about

This is an experiment i catched in winter 2017 during a session for a documentary soundtrack. So I composed different sound atmospheres and themes with this kind of focus but soon i've changed the plan (the best plan is always the plan to come!) in a sort of experiment of balance. The main idea supposing to be that the leading saxophone, the last element to complete the quartet, it should move the static and repetitiveness of the short theme or at least give this impression.
Mostly of the pieces are made by a breef trio instantly composed and recorded (using a loop station pedal) to form a dense texture and creating a sonic carpet for the leading saxophone which is always improvised. You can see an example of this process for the opening theme and his reprise with the variation of the soloist on the same trio. In some tracks you can also listen the enterely process, line by line.
All the tracks are recorded live during the process.
These pieces were never used for the film they were intended for.
After three years I wanted to free them maybe just to leave them behind.
